How to renew your blue card
To renew your CPCS Blue Competent Operator card, you must now complete the CPCS Renewal CPD along with a few other steps:
- Complete the new CPCS Renewal CPD course (from 22nd August 2024)
- Have a valid (passed within the last 2 years) HS&E test
- Have either the required hours in your CPCS logbook OR have a CPCS onsite assessment by one of our CPCS approved trainer / testers
Renewal CPD
The CPCS Renewal CPD is easily accessible via the NOCN hub and allows candidates to complete their learning on any device connected to the internet (including smart phones). Learning can be completed at a time and location to suit the card holder and will provide the candidate with instant feedback. No tests are involved, only short question and answer sections to check a candidates learning with a review screen to summarise any incorrect answers.
The new CPD consists of five modules which cover all current CPCS categories, reducing the number of modules required for each card holder to complete prior to renewing their CPCS card.
Topics covered in the new online renewal course include:
- People plant interface
- Sustainable plant operation
- Eco operation
- Legislation changes (basic)
- New technologies within plant equipment
At the end of each topic section, questions will be posed to confirm learning.

The Renewal CPD is available via the NOCN Hub at a cost of £28. Alternatively – we can help take the stress out of booking the training and book it for you.
