CPCS - Construction Plant Competence Scheme

The CPCS scheme consists of 2 cards:
Red trained operators card (2 year validity)
Blue competence card (5 year validity)
In order to achieve a red trained operator card, candidates will be trained (if training is required), then they must pass 3 tests in the following order:
CSCS Health, Safety & Environment test - This must’ve been achieved within the past 2 years.
CPCS Theory test - This is a 1 hour long one-to-one verbal test with approx 70 questions related to the category of plant being tested on.
CPCS Practical test - This is a timed practical test carried out on a CPCS approved test site.
Within the 2 year lifespan of the Red trained Operator card – candidates should begin to think about progressing onto their Blue Competence card.
To progress onto a blue competence card - candidates must complete the SVQ Level 2 Plant Operations.
